650 km 2026 to Elgå for the third time
Checkpoint Elgå will be part of the longest distance of the Femundløpet race in 2026.
Program
Wednesday 11 February 2026 at 16:00 - Start F650 in Røros. NB: the start is 5 hours later than in previous years. This means that the first mushers can arrive in Elgå just before 22:00 at the earliest. Many will still probably take a rest on the track, especially if the weather gets heavier, and then arrive two or three hours later.
Also in 2026, the mushers can take the mandatory long rest of 8 hours plus time equalization also at the checkpoint Elgå, in addition to Flendalen and Drevsjø 2 (i.e. not Drevsjø 1). This gives room for tactics. Most people would say it is early to take the long rest in Elgå, but a lot of rest at the start can also be good.
At Femund Lodge:
-
Open cafe with full rights
-
Outdoor campfires with campfire coffee
-
Open fireplace living room inside.
-
The drivers will set up both on the large neighboring lot where the entry takes place, and on the Femund Lodge property -- Exit is in front of the main entrance to the lodge, please pay attention!
-
The audience will be able to watch the mushers as they pass in and out, and as they groom the dogs at checkpoints, from outside the barrier ropes. Several of these long-distance mushers are at the top of the world!
-
Some mushers will probably stop by the cafe while the dogs rest. Or they can choose to sleep or relax outside by a campfire or in one of the two smaller lavvos, which are reserved for the mushers, within the fenced-off area. PS: the large lavvo is reserved for the volunteers this year.
-
Feel free to take a stroll down to the campfire site at the neighboring farm Søndre Elgåen Opplevelser, where you can see the teams on their way in and out!
-
Welcome to an ever-smaller folk festival in Elgå!
